On Friday I had another chance to secure a second reading of my Tyres (Buses and Coaches) Bill, after the Government opposed it in December. It was my hope that this time the Government would get behind this bill and support this vital legislation.
Sadly the Tories objected to my Tyres (Buses and Coaches) Bill for a second time. While this was expected, it is still extremely disappointing that the Government are refusing to accept the importance of this bill for road safety in the UK. They are still insisting that more research is required despite the road deaths already caused by worn out tyres.
This is not where the Tyred Campaign ends. I will continue to help Frances and her team in the fight for the law to be changed. We will ban worn out, dangerous tyres from our roads, it is only a matter of time.
If you agree that dangerous tyres have no place on our roads please do what you can to support the campaign, sign the petition linked below and like the Tyred facebook and twitter pages to help us ban old tyres.
